analysis of NME magazine
The genre of music magazine that i will produce is a variation between indie rock and rock. I will be working independently for this production.
The music magazine of the same genre that I have brought is NME. The genre of this particular type of magazine is supposed to represent the independent artists signed to independent record label such as chapel club but it seems to also represent main stream artists such as the xx. This magazine underestimates the readers into thinking it presents us with the rock genre but other types of genres are shown such as pop and jazz as there are articles relating to artists such as Aggro Santos.
The target audience for NME would be between the ages of 18-25. Ive chosen this age ranges because of the type of language the magazine uses such as conserderd wording and irrational behaviour that the artists convey. Also it would target more of the male audience rather then the female audience and the big clue would be the advertising. It mostly advertises games consoles and men's watches.
The main group promoted on the front cover of the magazine would be "white lies" and their main article is mostly focusing on their new album, materials and their musical tastes.
The colour scheme is mostly black and red font. Black is stereotypically represented for being dark as such is rock as well and the red is for anger with associated with the anger rock stars portray to be. The background is white which makes the black scheme stand out more appealing to the audience. There are also hints of purple and pink fonts which may suggest that they are appealing to the female audience as these colours are very feminine.
I will appeal to my target audience by not making the front cover, article and contents page seem too much exaggerated but keeping it simple so that they can understand my magazine quickly.
